Classroom Instruction that Works: from Marzano to Hattie

admin 0 Comments November 22, 2018

While the work will be great the fun we have will be even greater! You will spend four and a half days with our best trainers as they share their best practices for a practical classroom. Your passion and enthusiasm for education will be reignited!  Once again you will be treated and feel like the professional educator that you are!
Teachers will take back a full unit of lesson plans for their grade level and selected domains that they will create based on the strategies of study during this module.

In this four-five day residential summer program, teachers will explore nine essential strategies found in Dr. Robert Marzano’s book “Classroom Instruction that Works” and compare the work to John Hattie’s unprecedented meta-analysis of research studies on student achievement, the largest global research base into what actually works best in schools to improve learning: Visible Learning.

  • Learning Groups
  • Effort and Recognition
  • Similarities and Differences
  • Generating and Testing Hypotheses
  • Objectives and Feedback
  • Summarizing and Note Taking
  • Cues, Questions, and Advance Organizers
  • Non-linguistic Representation
  • Homework and Practice

We will drill down into these strategies for intensive work that teachers will be able to learn and transfer to their classroom with practical approach techniques, personalized lesson planning to immediately take back to the classroom, and an Edcamp approach to include participant voice and experiences.
